Welcome

Welcome to the first generation of Simply Somaira's website. My name is Somaira Ali and I am a recent graduate in MSc Computing. My aim for this website is to demonstrate my rapidly evolving programming capabilities through the various projects I have undertaken. These projects in themselves will demonstrate my high capabilities in programming, specifically in Databases, Artificial Intelligence and Website Design. Each of which have their own dedicated area on this website. There is also a section on myself (All About Me) so you know can get to know a little bit about me and my life.

For this website I wanted to show a little of my personality. For this reason the inspiration came from my favourite music artist, Mariah Carey. There was of course no choice but to choose the dominating black with a hint of pink and sprinkle of purple as it is the world famous favourite colours of Mariah's.

I was born, raised and still reside in Manchester (UK). I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in 2008 with a distinction in MSc Computing. Computing is not only a career for me. It is also a much loved hobby of mines.

My Talents

I have used a variety of programming languages as can be seen by the skills scores bar on the right side. However I can claim my talents are in specific areas of Computing. These are Databases which is "My World" as I put it. I have taken the first of two exams for the Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certification at Associate Level. I am due to take the second exam in June 2009 which would complete my certification.

My next area which I have dedicated much of my time to and complete my MSc thesis in is Artificial Intelligence. The one page on this website is just a hint of my expertise in this area and I have dedicated a whole website which is under construction at the moment.

My last area which I have self taught myself in my spare time is Website Design, specifically XHTML and CSS. All my websites are W3C and CSS validated.
